 Aspergillus Fumigatus

SURVEILLANCE in Manitoba

Background Information

We are looking to initiate a surveillance program for Aspergillus fumigatus in Manitoba this summer, spanning from July to mid August 2024. We will be using bioaerosol samplers, consisting of a sticky seal that will capture A. fumigatus spores from the air. The goal is to have ~50 traps evenly distributed in Winnipeg and ~50 traps distributed over Rural MB for 5 weeks in July-August. After traps are returned to our lab we will process them to gain insight into the genetic diversity of A. fumigatus and its baseline azole resistance levels here in Manitoba.
