HOW TO HELP FIGHT covid-19 IN MANITOBA

​Volunteer
  • National COVID-19 Volunteer Recruitment Campaign (Public Health Agency of Canada) 
The Government of Canada is working with provincial and territorial governments to respond to COVID-19. They are seeking volunteers to help in the following areas:
  1. Case tracking and contact tracing;
  2. Case data collection and reporting; and,
  3. Health system surge capacity.
 
  • Winnipeg COVID-19 Volunteer Recruitment (WRHA/Shared Health Manitoba)
A volunteer pool is being created to provide support to Manitoba’s health care system. If you are interested in volunteering with the WRHA either in an administrative capacity or having face-to-face interactions with patients, please complete the initial electronic screening below and we will connect back with you to discuss potential opportunities.
Volunteer opportunities exist across the province. If you are from outside Winnipeg, please contact your Regional Health Authority for more information. 


  • If you own a business that can pivot to production of PPE (Government of Manitoba)

  • Be a Virtual Visual Mate: volunteers engage in friendly conversations with people who are blind or partially sighted. (CNIB Foundation) ​
  • Help Next Door Manitoba, a network of helpers coming together as a community. (Province of Manitoba, Northforge)
  • Help solve diverse COVID-19 problems, from robotics to mask filtration to sensors for patient monitoring while working in interdisciplinary teams  (New Media Manitoba and Bioscience Association Manitoba)
  • Volunteer Manitoba maintains an online list of volunteer opportunities (Government of Manitoba, United Way, The Winnipeg Foundation)

Data collection (online)
  • Contribute your health status daily to track the pandemic (Covid Near You, Harvard & Boston Children's hospital)
  • Impacts of COVID-19 on Canadians (Statistics Canada)
  • Sign up to be a FluWatcher (Public Health Agency of Canada) ​
  • Pregnancy During the COVID-19 Pandemic  (University of Calgary, Alberta Children's Hospital)
  • Parenting During the Pandemic (University of Manitoba)

Donate
  • Blood (blood, platelets, trial for convalescent plasma if you have had COVID-19; Canadian Blood Services) 
  • Supplies for Emergency Kits, e.g., hygeine items, coffee/tea, canned foods etc. (Fort Garry Women's Resource Centre; email or call)
  • Infrared thermometers (Winnipeg Regional Health Authority)
  • Video Baby Monitors (St. Boniface Emergency Room)
  • Personal Protective Equipment, i.e., N95 masks, nitrile & vinyl gloves, gown, face shields, goggles (WRHA)
